PROJECT MANAGEMENT
We specialise in the planning, organisation and resource management of yacht building projects.
The building process can be broken into three phases; design, construction and delivery and testing. During each phase, Wijma Marine Consultants offers experienced guidance, advice and support as detailed below.
Design phase
• Advise on a selection of shipyards and subcontractors.
• Compile, in cooperation with the owner, designers and shipyard, the building drawings and specifications for the yacht. These documents are crucial to ensure both an efficient building process, as well as the quality of the yacht. They consist of:
– Clear and consistent design drawings
– Building specifications
– System drawings
– Quotation inquiry of main components
– Budget calculations
– Project planning
• Conduct verification of budget control and building planning.
Construction phase
• Organise required build meetings.
• Provide monthly (or weekly) reports to the yard regarding build progress and budgeting, wherein we advise on impending decisions and actions.
• Conduct regular surveys of the yacht and oversee quality control throughout the construction phase.
• Administer change orders on behalf of the owner.
• Verify whether the yacht is being built according to the agreed contracts and specifications.
Delivery and testing phase
• Conduct regular surveys of the yacht and oversee quality control throughout the delivery phase.
• Verify whether the yacht is built according to the agreed contracts and specifications.
• In cooperation with the captain and crew, we ensure the yacht and her systems can perform without issue.
• Compile a list of required modifications based on final tests and quality control surveys.
